Mid-Cap / Micro-Cap Top Movers of the Week 🐶
This week’s board mixed one earnings rocket, one fintech oddity, and two AI-infrastructure hangovers.
$MQ ( ▼ 2.24% ) : Marqeta, jumped eight spots to #11 as this week’s top dawg: Shares gained +10.2% WTD following the July 1 reverse split, although no fresh operating catalyst matched the move. Sentiment held at 55%. Risk: Q2 earnings Aug. 4 must justify the post-split momentum and persistent Block customer concentration.
$AEHR ( ▼ 3.74% ) : Aehr Test Systems, climbed five spots to #9: The semiconductor-testing company gained +11.6% WTD after reporting $18.8M in quarterly revenue, $0.11 adjusted EPS, and $100.6M in effective backlog. Sentiment reached 88%. Risk: Fiscal 2026 revenue still fell 15%, and the growth forecast depends heavily on one lead AI customer.
$TWST ( ▲ 2.87% ) : Twist Bioscience, entered at #22: The synthetic-DNA maker gained +3.5% WTD ahead of its Aug. 3 earnings report. Management previously guided for $442M to $447M in fiscal-year revenue. Risk: Last quarter’s revenue beat came with a wider EPS miss, so another margin slip would break the setup.
$BLZE ( ▼ 3.71% ) : Backblaze, collapsed from #13 to #25: Shares lost -24.9% WTD as traders unwound the surge tied to its five-year, $335M CoreWeave storage agreement. Risk: CoreWeave is now an outsized piece of the growth story, and Aug. 3 earnings must show Backblaze can fund the promised capacity.
$PENG ( ▼ 8.43% ) : Penguin Solutions, fell six spots to #18: The AI-infrastructure builder dropped -22.9% WTD after pricing $650M of convertible notes and exchanging older debt partly for shares. Sentiment sank to 31%. Risk: The refinancing improves maturities, but hedging and share issuance can keep pressure on the stock.
Next week’s swing factor: Alphabet reports July 22. Its data-center spending outlook will test whether investors still want smaller AI-infrastructure names after this week’s unwind.
