U.S. stocks climbed Monday as the hardware selloff eased ahead of a busy stretch of earnings. This week, traders await major big tech earnings from Meta, Tesla, SpaceX, and Netflix. Chipmakers recovered, but the buying never spread far enough to give most sectors a green finish.
$SPY gained 0.4%, $QQQ added 1.2%, and $IWM rose 0.3%, while $DIA finished roughly flat and the Dow surrendered 52,000. Only three of 11 sectors advanced. Consumer Discretionary led at +1.8%, while Utilities fell 2.0%. Micron and Intel helped carry the chip recovery, gaining 3.0% and 2.4%, respectively, while Wells Fargo and JPMorgan weighed on banks.
The AI argument remained a tug of war between demand and the cost of meeting it. Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak projected 47% AWS revenue growth in 2027, helping Amazon jump 5%. According to MarketWatch, Goldman Sachs analyst Gabriela Borges sees CoreWeave’s blended borrowing cost around 10%. Her Buy upgrade brought an opening rally that sellers erased by the close.
Disc Medicine supplied the issue’s clearest clinical win: its trial showed patients could spend more time in sunlight without pain, addressing the FDA’s earlier objection. Transocean booked more work for two drillships, while Stocktwits traders debated whether CoreWeave’s failed bounce meant its financing worries still outweighed enthusiasm for AI. Amazon’s rally met plenty of community skepticism, too.

AFTER THE BELL
Disc Medicine Answers the FDA
Disc Medicine’s experimental blood-disease pill delivered the evidence regulators said was missing, sending the clinical-stage biotech sharply higher Monday.
The RIP: $IRON ( ▲ 38.86% ) climbed +40.7% to $79.96 as of 12:41 p.m. ET after bitopertin met both primary and every secondary endpoint in the Phase 3 APOLLO trial.
Bitopertin treats erythropoietic protoporphyria, a rare blood disorder that makes sunlight intensely painful. In the 183-patient study, the drug reduced disease-causing PPIX levels by 41.4% versus placebo. Patients gained 12.2 hours of pain-free light exposure during the sixth month. ☀️
That second number answered the FDA’s objection. Regulators rejected Disc’s earlier application because lower PPIX levels had not been clearly connected to meaningful symptom relief. Disc plans to resubmit by year-end, with a decision expected around mid-2027.
Stocktwits sentiment was 93% bullish, though traders debated whether to take profits after the surge.

Cango Inc., a leading Bitcoin miner, is building a hybrid compute platform combining Bitcoin mining with GPU computing and AI inference, focused on energy efficiency.

EcoHash, Cango’s dedicated HPC and AI inference division, is energized, connected, and turning grid access into live cash flow. Contracts are signed, commercial monetization has begun.
Its AI infrastructure footprint starts in Georgia, with expansion expected beyond:
• 10 acres of self-owned freehold land, backed by a 50 MW Georgia Power contract locked to 2029, auto-renewable.
• Modular GPU clusters live in Georgia support GPU rental and colocation, with test nodes running in Texas and the West Coast.
Cango’s Bitcoin mining, HPC, and AI businesses share one foundation: power, land, cooling, networking, and high-density compute. That base supports a modular, low-latency inference model and a distributed network architecture — and gives Cango a potential path to repurpose select mining assets for AI workloads while building on its Georgia operating experience and evaluating new sites.

CoreWeave’s Upgrade Couldn’t Hold
CoreWeave received a Goldman Sachs upgrade Monday, opened sharply higher, and still finished underwater.
The RIP: $CRWV ( ▼ 0.44% ) closed -0.4% on 99.5M shares after trading as high as $65.92. The stock had fallen 25% last week as its bonds sold off and financing concerns spread across AI infrastructure.
Goldman Sachs analyst Gabriela Borges upgraded the cloud-computing provider to Buy, arguing that rising demand for scarce computing capacity should offset somewhat higher borrowing costs. According to MarketWatch, Borges expects future debt to cost roughly 100 to 200 basis points more, leaving CoreWeave’s blended borrowing cost around 10%.
The market heard the defense and sold the opening pop anyway. ☁️
Stocktwits sentiment was 84% bullish on extremely high message volume. Traders were split between calling the selloff an overreaction and treating the failed rally as proof that credit investors still control the conversation. That argument kept $CRWV atop the Stocktwits pulse.🔥

Transocean Books 1,150 More Days

Offshore drilling contractor Transocean secured two long-duration U.S. Gulf contracts Monday, extending the working lives of two ultra-deepwater drillships.
The RIP: $RIG ( ▲ 4.8% ) traded higher after announcing approximately $550M of firm backlog. The supplied closing move was not verified, so no percentage is included.
The Deepwater Proteus received a 10-well contract expected to contribute roughly $325M. Its estimated 700-day campaign begins in the first quarter of 2027, directly after the rig’s current Gulf assignment. 🚢
The Deepwater Conqueror added a five-well contract worth approximately $225M, excluding mobilization fees. That 450-day campaign starts in the third quarter of 2027 after its program in Equatorial Guinea.
Two contracts secured almost 1,150 days of scheduled work. For an offshore driller, keeping expensive ships employed is the whole game. Idle rigs still cost money. These awards give Transocean revenue visibility without a gap between assignments.
Stocktwits sentiment was nearly even at 51% bullish and 49% bearish, with low message volume. Traders liked the backlog but remained wary of debt and merger-related dilution. 🛢️

Amazon’s 47% Cloud Bet
Online retail and cloud giant Amazon rallied Monday after Morgan Stanley made the stock a top pick and raised its price target.
The RIP: $AMZN surged +5.0% to $262.45 on 56M shares, 1.7 times its recent pace. Morgan Stanley raised its target to $350 from $335 while maintaining an Overweight rating.
Morgan Stanley analyst Brian Nowak expects Amazon Web Services revenue to grow 47% in 2027 and 42% in 2028, partly reflecting plans to deploy 2M additional Nvidia GPUs. He also projects Amazon will earn $16.50 per share in 2028.
Wall Street is underwriting an enormous amount of rented computing power. Nowak estimates Amazon will spend $355B in 2027 and $365B in 2028 as it buys chips, builds data centers, and expands the infrastructure supporting AWS. ☁️
Power is part of that bill. Amazon also agreed Monday to fund development work for a proposed 960-megawatt nuclear project in Indiana, part of a collaboration targeting at least 5 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity by 2039. ⚡
The stock gained 5%, but Stocktwits sentiment remained 70% bearish on low activity. Apparently, a $350 target and 47% cloud forecast still left room for doubt.
