Closing Bell

Stocks closed lower Monday as rising yields and AI-spending doubts weighed on tech, with chip stocks taking the worst of it. Oil climbed slightly, and the market was red after President Trump rejected the newest Iranian peace offer Sunday. According to the WSJ, instead of a seven-day truce Trump told aides he thinks a new bombing campaign is more likely.

The ten year treasury yield hit a high not seen since 2002. Won’t be long till these 'highest yields since XXXX’ dates are further away than my birthday in ‘97.

But the real action was in single names: Kodiak Sciences nearly tripled after its eye drugs hit their Phase 3 goals, MongoDB cratered 18.5% after its CEO of less than a year left for Meta, and Boeing slid 7% as the FAA delayed 737 Max 10 certification over a software glitch.

AFTER THE BELL
One Eye Trial, Two Stocks

Kodiak Sciences, a precommercial retinal-drug developer, reported positive Phase 3 DAYBREAK results Monday for two wet age-related macular degeneration treatments. Rival Ocular Therapeutix promptly got steamrolled, but some users argue it still has a competitive offer.

The RIP: $KOD ( ▲ 177.96% ) ripped +178%, while $OCUL ( ▼ 20.67% ) plunged -20.7%. Both Kodiak candidates met their primary endpoints, and 54% of Zenkuda patients reached a six-month dosing interval. Kodiak plans to submit Zenkuda for approval in the fourth quarter.

Both drugs achieved non-inferior vision gains against aflibercept after one year. Zenkuda’s durability gave Kodiak a plausible path toward fewer injections, which is a big deal in chronic retinal disease.

The $OCUL room argued that AXPAXLI’s superiority-focused program still offers a better competitive setup. The market was not interested in grading on nuance Monday.

“$KOD Amazing news this morning!... Majority of patients on 24-week dosing interval.”

“And the market punishes $OCUL? What am I missing?”

STOCKS
MongoDB’s 322-Day CEO

MongoDB, the database software company, said Monday that CEO CJ Desai stepped down immediately to take a senior role at Meta. Former CEO Dev Ittycheria returned on an interim basis while the board searches for a permanent replacement.

The RIP: $MDB ( ▼ 18.46% ) cratered -18.5%, while $META ( ▼ 4.8% ) fell -4.8%. MongoDB reaffirmed its third-quarter and full-year fiscal 2027 guidance and kept Tuesday’s investor day on the calendar.

Desai lasted less than 11 months. Ittycheria previously ran MongoDB from 2014 through 2025, growing annual revenue from roughly $35M to more than $2.3B. Stocktwits traders called Monday’s plunge an overreaction, but the timing stinks. Investors now get a strategy presentation from an interim CEO one day after the permanent one walked.

MORE NEWS
Nvidia’s $235B Flex

Nvidia authorized another $150B for share repurchases Monday. The chipmaker also launched an open platform designed to monitor AI agents and stop them from taking unauthorized actions. It was the largest share buyback ever.

The RIP: $NVDA climbed +1.7% while the broader market fell. The new authorization lifted its remaining repurchase capacity to $235B, which Nvidia expects to deploy through fiscal 2028.

An authorization is permission to buy shares, not a completed purchase. Still, $235B buys plenty of support. Nvidia paired that financial muscle with OpenShell software and a Sentry monitoring system backed by more than 100 companies, banks, infrastructure providers, and research groups.

The safety protocols are two part, according to Bloomberg. Nvidia Sentry will run on BlueField data units providing an agent policing layer, the firm said, quarantining agents in milliseconds. Openshell is part two, an open source software that runs on Vera hardware, it lets users enforce what agents can and can’t do.

Stocktwits sentiment finished neutral. Traders liked the buyback, but the stock still surrendered its $230 level before the close.
