The Weekend Rip
Happy Weekend!
Let's recap and prep you for the week ahead. 📝
◀ On Monday, we all celebrated Labor Day. Here’s a pic of me wearing a life jacket as a diaper on my day off, somewhere in upstate PA

Tuesday : Oil climbed and stocks fell as attacks on Saudi infrastructure revived inflation fears. Qualcomm landed Amazon’s AI data-center business and pulled optical names higher. GameStop’s collectible boom could not hide another steep sales decline.
Wednesday : Stocks fell as oil topped $100 and Iran escalated attacks. Apple unveiled a $1,999 foldable iPhone. An Anthropic researcher quit over extinction risk, and Scott Bessent picked a fight with bond traders.
Thursday : Oil’s surge above $100 and another hot inflation print knocked growth stocks lower. Oracle’s AI cloud numbers rescued its shares after hours, but Adobe’s billion users could not do the same. Trump promised $5,000 checks as housing sales sank and Treasury yields climbed.
Friday 📈: Stocks climbed to fresh highs even as hot core inflation pushed next week’s rate hike toward certainty. Saudi Arabia’s pipeline shutdown tightened an oil squeeze already pushing diesel above $6. Retail attention landed on insider buying, dilution, and double-digit nuclear and biotech selloffs.
Here are the closing prices:
