The Weekend Rip
Happy Weekend!

U.S. stocks opened the week mixed as oil tumbled on hopes for a U.S.-Iran breakthrough and Oracle’s $20B raise weighed on AI stocks. Stocks rallied after Democrats swept the midterms, then slid Thursday as chipmakers had their worst day in years. Chips clawed back some of those losses Friday as a blowout jobs report pushed Treasury yields higher.

Let's recap and prep you for the week ahead. 📝

Monday 🕊️: U.S. stocks finished mixed as oil collapsed on hopes for a U.S.-Iran breakthrough. Apple beat on a record iPhone quarter in its new CEO’s first report, but the stock slipped anyway. Marvell’s $115B deal and Oracle’s $20B raise dragged the AI trade lower.

Tuesday 🗳️: U.S. stocks finished mixed Tuesday, with chip stocks supplying the leadership while the country voted. AMD guided to a $17 billion quarter after its data center sales nearly doubled on AI demand. Control of Congress went to a count that could run for days in the closest Senate races.

Wednesday 🌊: U.S. stocks surged after Democrats swept the midterms and gridlock became the market’s favorite policy. AppLovin’s quarter lit up after hours while CVS’s breakup erased an earnings beat. Dutch Bros beat both lines and still lost roughly a fifth of its value.

Thursday 📉: U.S. stocks sold off hard as the midterm sweep turned on the AI buildout and chip stocks took their worst day in years. Cloudflare ripped after hours on a growth beat while Qualcomm's phone slump sank its print. Wendy's rejected a $7.35 buyout and reached for the poison pill.

Friday 💼: U.S. stocks rose as a blowout jobs report lifted yields and chips clawed back Thursday's rout. IonQ quadrupled revenue on a foundry it just bought while DraftKings cut its year to fund prediction markets. Firefly landed a $1.3B engine deal as AST SpaceMobile decided to build its own rocket.
