CLOSING BELL
All Eyes On Nvidia, And The Fed

The market climbed Tuesday, and Nvidia earnings expectations were not the only things on traders’ minds.
The Trump Administration is still seeking ways to fire Fed member Lisa Cook over allegations of mortgage fraud that have not been investigated in a court of law. The president said if Cook goes, he’ll have the votes to cut rates. Cook said she is suing and not going anywhere. 🤺
Cabinate members also said they were looking at more stake purchases, this time in defense contractors. 💣️ Lockheed Martin, RTX climbed. Also, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey announced their engagement, if anyone cares.
Today's issue covers: UNH keeps getting investigated for (allegedly) stealing taxpayer money, Nvidia previews, U.S. buying companies like a centralized state, and more. 📰
With the final numbers for indexes and the ETFs that track them, 7 of 11 sectors closed green, with industrials $XLI ( ▲ 1.03% ) leading and staples $XLP ( ▼ 0.65% ) lagging.

UNH Keeps Getting Investigated For (Allegedly) Stealing Taxpayer Money
Despite enjoying a recent price action rocket after a stake-sized purchase from old man Berkshire Hathaway, $UNH ( ▼ 1.45% ) is falling after hours on Tuesday.
Bloomberg reported the Justice Department is looking into UnitedHealth’s prescription management services and doctor reimbursement as a part of the larger ‘is UNH double, triple billing the U.S. taxpayer for fake illnesses’ DOJ probe.
Investigators are honing in on the firm’s pharmacy benefit manager Optum Rx, and though the probe is not an indication that charges will be filed, UNH pointed Blomberg to a prior statement that it was complying with law enforcement. UNH is the largest seller of Medicare Advantage plans for seniors, which drove its constant YoY growth in the past couple of years, according to Bloomberg.
Bloomberg reported a court-appointed litigator said in March the DOJ had no evidance to support claims they overbilled Medicare by $2B.

NVIDIA NEWS
Major Nvidia Earnings On Deck, Here’s What To Watch For:
Wednesday is the moment all semiconductor fans have been waiting for: Nvidia is set to report after the market closes. It has been a blizzard of events since the last time the AI tech giant reported, so here are some points to watch: Chief Jensen Huang and company will talk on the call about the new 15% charge to sell to China imposed by the Trump Admin, and the $8B+ Nvidia will pull in now that their chip ban is gone again.
Speaking of Trump news, the prez has said 100% tariffs on Semiconductors are on the way, unless companies build in the U.S., but Nvidia should pass that loyalty test. The giant announced plans for $500B in new chip manufacturing in the U.S., shortly after Liberation day scared the market in April.
In earnings, the Street expects adjusted EPS of $1 and revenue of $46.2B, according to Bloomberg estimates. If the company meets or beats, it would be nearly 50% growth in both EPS and revenue from last year. It’s a bit of a slower pace than the 12% revenue growth in Q2 2024, but still. 🤑
Look for $41B in data center rev, more than doubled from last year. The hope for Nvidia is that other tech giants are only increasing CapEx spending on datacenters, and Nvidia is going to be a prime recipient as a market leader. Alphabet estimates its spending will grow to a total $85B for 2025, Meta is looking at $66-72B. Microsoft’s CapEx last fiscal year was $80B, and analysts see it climbing to $120B.
Nvidia is not the only report coming; Kohl’s saw a 783% spike in retail chatter ahead of its Q2 earnings, with sentiment split between meme-fueled optimism and bearish warnings over real estate valuations and tariff-driven demand risks.
EARNINGS UPDATES
Let’s Not Forget After The Bell Reports Today:
$OKLO ( ▲ 4.38% ) Okta climbed after the small $16B market cap company (relative to Nvidia’s trillions) reported earnings results that beat estimates. The cybersecurity company grew revenue 13% from last year to $728M, and updated its guidance after cutting it during the May ‘tariff scare’ period.
Chief Todd McKinnon said business is going well, “It was much better than we thought.”
The company announced its acquisition of Axiom Security and received a Canaccord upgrade to ‘Buy’, triggering an 833% surge in Stocktwits message volume and “extremely bullish” sentiment ahead of earnings.
$MDB ( ▼ 1.88% ) flew higher after hours, adjusted EPS of $1, and $0.65 rev 591M vs estimates of $554M. The data platform company said it added 5,000 customers in the past quarter, and raised its forward guidance. Investors were so psyched, shares of $SNOW ( ▼ 0.17% ) were climbing in concert, another self-described ‘AI Data Cloud company’ due to report results Wednesday.
