Always Be Bullishing

The market climbed Wednesday, as rate cut hopes helped push the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to back-to-back closing highs. The Dow might join them soon, the big old index is nearly 100 points from a new all-time high, last set in December last year.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, at one time in the running for the FOMC board, called for up to 150 basis points of rate cuts for the September meeting. Futures and bets are nearly sure there will be a cut, as of Wednesday. 👀

IPOs Are Still Rocking, And This One Sounds Bullish 🐂
The Cryptocurrency exchange Bullish flew 180% intraday on Wednesday after the Peter Thiel-backed, Coindesk owner made its NYSE debut.
$BLSH ( ▲ 83.78% ) ended the day at a nearly $10B market cap, nearly tripling the initial $37/share priced IPO. The stock faced multiple circuit breaker halts due to volatility. What was all the buzz about?
Bullish owns Coindesk, the main trade publication in the crypto space, but makes its bread and butter from its Bullish Exchange, a derivatives market for institutional-sized clients. The exchange sees $2.6B in daily volume, according to its filing. The company attempted to go public in 2021 through a SPAC merger at a $9B valuation. Its plans were foiled by regulators last time.

SEC filing for Bulish IPO
The filing included a letter from Chief Tom Farley, describing investing in his neighbor’s start-up firm back in 2014 with $10M from his role running the NYSE Group’s balance sheet, because he liked the idea of “programmable finance.” The startup happened to be Coinbase. 🤑
This year has been a big one for going public. So far, 133 companies worth more than $50 million have hit public markets, up 58% from last year, according to IPO tracker. 😅

Amazon Takes On Walmart, DoorDash, Instacart With Same-Day Grocery Delivery
After surpassing Walmart in sales revenue in February, posting $187B in one quarter, the Mag 7 giant is now targeting same-day sales.
Walmart fell 2.5% Wednesday after its nemesis announced it would let shoppers in 1,000 cities across the U.S. order groceries for same-day delivery. The giant wants to expand that plan to 2,300 cities by the end of the year.
Where once customers bought cheap electronics with free shipping with Prime, members can now throw in milk and eggs. Amazon offers free delivery on orders of $25 or more, one of the lowest in the industry, according to reporting from Robinhood’s Sherwood media. 🥚
Walmart recently said it aimed to bring same-day services to 95% of U.S. households by the end of its fiscal 2026, or January next year, according to the firm’s most recent report. Walmart’s online sales became profitable in its Q1 this year, and in Q4 made up 18% of all sales.
Amazon said in a release that it had slowly rolled out same-day service to cities across the U.S., in Phoenix, Orlando, and Kansas City.
“Many of these shoppers were first-time Amazon grocery customers who now return to shop twice as often with same-day delivery service compared to those who didn’t purchase fresh food,” the company said in a release.
